FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Clearwire Launches Coverage in East Arlington and the Beaches75,000 Additional Households Now Have Access to Wireless Broadband Internet Access via Clearwire
JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Oct. 25, 2004) — Quickly following a tremendous response to the company’s initial launch in Jacksonville less than two months ago, Clearwire today announced it’s continued expansion in Jacksonville by launching local service to East Arlington and all four beaches communities — Atlantic, Jacksonville, Neptune and Ponte Vedra. Now, approximately 75,000 additional households can have wireless broadband Internet access with Clearwire. “Clearwire is pleased to announce that we have launched service in the highly populated areas of East Arlington and the Beaches,” said Darren Nichols, Clearwire’s Jacksonville general manager. “Beginning today, consumers can get high-speed internet access for their home or small business more simply and more affordably than previously possible with traditional broadband options.” Those living in East Arlington and the Beaches, as well as residents of Downtown, Southside, Mandarin and Fleming Island, can purchase Clearwire wireless broadband Internet access for their home or business at one of many locations. Interested consumers can visit Clearwire’s retail location on Philips Highway, located across from Regal Cinema at The Avenues; one of more than 15 authorized retailers located throughout Clearwire’s service area; buy online at www.clearwire.com; or call 482-1414. In addition to broadening its local coverage, Clearwire is also increasing the number of transmission sites to better meet demand in areas it already serves. With the addition of new transmission sites, Clearwire will have invested more than $3 million in infrastructure alone here in Northeast Florida. “Demand for Clearwire service in Northeast Florida has been fantastic,” said Clark Peterson, president of major markets for Clearwire. “Now we’re able to offer Clearwire to many more residents than we could previously, and we look forward to continuing to increase that number over the next several months.” As for the remainder of Northeast Florida, Clearwire plans to continue expanding its service area during the next 12 months. Company plans call for expansion south and west into northern St. Johns and eastern Clay Counties, and to the north and west in Duval County. In addition, Clearwire plans to launch service in the Daytona Beach area by year’s end. About ClearwireClearwire is a provider of reliable, wireless broadband Internet service to consumers and small business. In Jacksonville the company’s wireless broadband Internet service is now available in Downtown, East Arlington, the Beaches, Southside, Mandarin and Fleming Island. Jacksonville was selected as the first market in the country to launch Clearwire services and is part of an aggressive buildout throughout the United States. Clearwire is utilizing next-generation non-line-of-sight wireless
